Freedom from Morning Sickness – Please?

Is morning sickness ruining what you thought was going to be a beautiful pregnancy? Has the joy in your life been replaced by an almost constant queasiness followed by the inevitable trip at Mach 1 to the nearest bathroom? Do you wish that your morning sickness would hurry up and become the passing fad that you had been told that it would be?

The truth is that some women are never bothered by morning sickness at all other than the occasional bouts of queasiness that told them at the beginning of their pregnancy that they were indeed pregnant. Yet for others morning sickness is an almost constant reminder of their pregnant state throughout most of their pregnancy.

Your doctor might tell you that morning sickness is quite normal but if your morning sickness is severe enough you might wonder if you and your baby are getting the proper nutrition that both of you need. And while your doctor might tell you that he can prescribe some medications that can help to ease the symptoms of your morning sickness you are hesitant to take anything at all while you are pregnant. This might actually be a wise choice.

There are things that you can do to help ease your morning sickness naturally and without pill or medications. Many women find that eating saltines or crackers is helpful and you might want to think about carrying a package around in your purse for just such occasions when you feel that having something light on your stomach might help you feel a little less “green in the gills”.

Other women find that eating small meals throughout the day has helped alleviate the symptoms of their morning sickness while allowing them to eat regular meals with their families. Especially during the later stages of pregnancy when your baby is taking up a lot of room in your abdominal cavity and pushing everything up including the contents of your stomach, it can be helpful to eat smaller meals more frequently.

If you notice that there are certain foods or smells that set you off and have you running for the bathroom at a moment’s notice it might be best to avoid these smells. Cooking fish or other foods that disturb your stomach and bring on the queasiness associated with morning sickness can be banished from the household until after the baby is born and if your husband absolutely must have his fish have him cook it….and eat it outside of the house if possible.

While morning sickness can be the sign of a very healthy baby it probably doesn’t help you feel a whole lot better when you’re hugging the toilet and crying. Although you might feel that it is a badge of honor to suffer with your morning sickness it simply doesn’t have to be this way. By learning about some of the more advanced techniques of curing your morning sickness you will be able to actually enjoy your pregnancy and live a somewhat normal life again.

Cures for Morning Sickness – And Quickly Please?

Congrats to you and yours for the upcoming birth of your child! And here is your present. Months and months of morning sickness so severe that you would think that you live on a small boat!

Is this how it feels to you these days? Has your morning sickness completely taken over your life and you feel like you can’t do anything, go anywhere or eat anything without taking into consideration whether or not you’re going to be able to keep it down? Do you just want your life back and regain some control over your body so you can actually enjoy being pregnant?

Sure, a doctor could prescribe medications to help alleviate the symptoms of your morning sickness but you are hesitant to take any drugs or pills while you are pregnant, and rightly so! After all, with a list as long as your arm of what you shouldn’t take or expose yourself or your baby to it would be wise to be cautious about any medications that you put into your body.

Natural cures for morning sickness may hold some promise for you and many women have found relief from the queasiness and often violent sickness that comes often suddenly and without warning. But you wonder how effective these cures are and how safe they are.

While some natural cures for morning sickness like ginger root and vitamin B6 might seem like a bunch of baloney, their effectiveness in settling your stomach can be quite amazing. Neat little tricks like eating many small meals during the day so you never really fill your stomach up can be helpful advice and keeping some crackers or peppermint sticks on hand in your purse are great lifesavers when you’re out and about.

Avoiding smells or foods that seem to make your morning sickness worse like fried or fatty foods or the smell of fish can also help keep your nausea to a minimum. Unfortunately, it isn’t always possible to tell little old ladies not to wear tons of cheap perfume and your husband might not understand the seriousness of your request to not cook fish in the house until it’s too late.

The truth is that in clinical studies of 88 pregnant women it was found that those who chose the natural forms of treatment to cure their morning sickness felt that they were more able to live their lives as they did before their pregnancy than those who took anti nausea drugs prescribed by a doctor. The natural methods of treating the nausea we similar to the methods mentioned above in addition to some more advanced technique but the point to note was that these women became more functional and more able to enjoy their pregnancy and live a somewhat normal life by using natural methods of treating their morning sickness. This should be a testament to the effectiveness of natural methods and all the proof that you might need to move forward in trying some of these methods to try to cure your morning sickness.

Do Women in Other Cultures Suffer From Morning Sickness?

Congratulations! You just found out that you’re pregnant! Chances are that one of the first signs, even before a positive pregnancy test, was a touch of morning sickness. Soon your body will begin to change and there is a good chance that the occasional queasiness will rear it’s ugly head and you will begin to experience some real morning sickness, if you aren’t already there!

Most women come to accept morning sickness just as a part of being pregnant and try to grin and bear it. Your mother may have told you many times how sick she was when she was pregnant with you or you may have friends who you have seen suffer through morning sickness. But the truth is that there is help out there for you if your morning sickness begins to interfere with your life and make your pregnancy an unpleasant experience.

When I started researching cures for morning sickness I was surprised to find that the women in many eastern countries do not experience morning sickness. This fact doesn’t have anything to do with their genetic makeup but the little known fact is attributed to their traditions and the advice that is passed from one generation to the next. Natural remedies and cures for morning sickness that mothers and grandmothers pass down to their daughters and grand daughters. Suffering through nine months of morning sickness simply isn’t acceptable to women in many other cultures, and it really shouldn’t be for you either.

The natural nature of these cures and the centuries over which they have been used should allow us to explore them with confidence since,

First, they are natural ingredients found in nature without chemicals; just as nature intended.

Second, the length of time that they have been used far exceeds any clinical trials that any administrative body might impose upon a new drug or cure for any ailment.

Logic should tell us that a healthy mother that is able to provide nutritionally for her growing child will produce a strong, healthy baby. A mother that is throwing up all the time or doesn’t “feel” healthy may have problems not only for her baby, nutritionally, but also for herself.

Our western culture has told us for years that a woman’s options were limited to what could be done about morning sickness. There were drugs out on the market prescribed by doctors within this century that had catastrophic consequences in the form of birth defects in children. This has caused many women to suffer through morning sickness instead of taking any chances with their unborn children, and no one could blame them.

The holistic or “natural” path was often to simply grin and bear it or eat crackers in hopes of alleviating some of the symptoms of morning sickness. But these days there are numerous resources out there with some of the same remedies that have been used for centuries in other cultures that are available to you so you don’t have to be uncomfortable. You can go back to living your life pregnant and actually enjoy the nine months of pregnancy the way that other women all around the world do. It costs very little and the risks are minimal.

So try some of these holistic remedies for your morning sickness and see if there might be something that can work for you. Check with your friends to see if they have tried any of these cures and check with your OBGYN if you doubt the safety of these holistic remedies.

I Never Signed Up For Morning Sickness!!

This is the one of the happiest times in your life! You have just found out that you are pregnant and will be expecting a baby in the near future. Well….this SHOULD be one of the happiest times in your life. If you are like my wife, you figured out rather quickly that you were either pregnant or ate some bad sushi thanks to the queasiness and quick to follow, upchucking that is associated with morning sickness.

The truth is that most women experience some signs of morning sickness throughout their pregnancy to one degree or another. Perhaps your husband tries to be thoughtful can caring and tells you that this is the sign of a healthy baby…and it is. But somewhere along the way you feel the glow of motherhood leave you as that “green feeling” replaces it…sometimes in the morning..and sometimes in the afternoon or evening…and sometimes, for you lucky ladies…morning sickness is present all day long to one degree or another.

Perhaps you feel that it is a badge of honor that you should suffer through valiantly…that it’s part of being a mother and you will get through it the same as your mother did and your grandmother before her.

If you have no desire to suffer in silence and wish to try to do something to alleviate your morning sickness, try some of these old standby remedies to ease your stomach and help you enjoy life at least a little bit.

Ginger – Try adding a little ginger to your diet in the form of ginger ale…either cold and fresh from the bottle or flat, depending upon how you feel. Sometimes flat ginger ale goes down a little bit easier while other times cold ginger ale really hits the spot when you feel the sweat of morning sickness coming on.

Potato Chips – The traditional cure that many women have used for years, and that you have probably heard of to help ease your morning sickness is to eat saltines and keep some on hand at all times. Yes, these do work fine but try jazzing it up a bit and try some potato chips…salt and vinegar chips have been heard to have equal and sometimes higher redeeming value than your run of the mill saltines…try some and see if they do the trick.

Steak – Yes….I said steak. Have your husband cook you a steak for a change. You see, sometimes iron levels can get low in pregnant women and cause some of the symptoms of morning sickness. Steak and other snacks high in protein will help keep your iron levels up…and if nothing else, your husband will feel that he is helping and a steak dinner is a meal that you won’t have to cook!

Starches and Carbohydrates – Starches and foods high in carbohydrates are helpful in reducing some of the stomach acids that are often associated with morning sickness. You might actually find that you crave such foods and now is the perfect time to treat yourself to some good bread or pasta, if that is what your body is wanting…and it might actually help with your morning sickness! PLUS!...a good husband should know how to cook some pasta, which is another meal that you won’t have to cook! See where I’m heading with this stuff?!

Snacks – Try to eat several small meals throughout the day instead of three large ones. By eating smaller meals you are actually eating the same amount of food while keeping food in your digestive tract throughout the day which has been reported to help ease morning sickness

Water – Try to keep hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of liquids. Water is assimilated into your body quicker than any other liquid known to man. If your morning sickness is severe then drinking water or other liquids will be vitally important to helping you and your baby healthy.

I do hope that these tips help you with your morning sickness and help you to enjoy this time in your life a little better…after all, motherhood isn’t always about suffering and if you can enjoy your pregnancy with the help of these natural cures for morning sickness I encourage you to do so.
